Reston's New Restaurants Are Opening Just Past the Places You Already Know

Reston's New Restaurants Are Opening Just Past the Places You Already Know

On May 21, 2022, Clyde's of Reston served its last meal after 31 years at Reston Town Center. Clyde's Restaurant Group is coming back this October with a new restaurant at a new address. Ebbitt House is at 1860 Reston Row Plaza, inside Comstock's Reston Station development around the Wiehle-Reston East Metro station. Two familiar faces are running it. General Manager Ajay Bhatia and Executive Chef Diego Ramirez both worked at Clyde's of Reston.

Clyde's moving shows the year's pattern. Through 2026, Reston's new places to eat have opened at the edges of what people already know. One cluster is the Reston Town Center expansion south of the Washington & Old Dominion Trail. The other is Reston Row, up by Wiehle-Reston East. The older Town Center blocks and the village centers are still active, but their spaces are filling through turnover rather than new construction.

Reston Row Gets Its Anchor

Ebbitt House is the biggest single opening of the fall. According to FFXnow's August report, it will have a 260-seat dining room with two private rooms and two bars. A third bar sits outside on a 125-seat patio. The restaurant's own website lists the dining room at 275 seats, with the same 125-seat patio. The name comes from Old Ebbitt Grill in D.C., but the restaurant says it is "a new restaurant with a new look." The menu leans on classic American food: burgers, steak, house-made pastas, and seafood, with oysters at the raw bar. The Ebbitt House website still says "opens October 2026" and gives no specific day.

Ebbitt House joins a row of businesses that has been filling in through the year. Noku Sushi, the bakery Tous Les Jours, and Vida Fitness are already open on Reston Row. Back Nine Golf has signed for an indoor golf simulator venue there. Its Reston page still says "Coming Soon," and there's no opening date yet. The development itself is finished. Reston Row now runs north to Sunset Hills Road, and the last piece, the 419-unit BLVD Haley apartment building with 6,000 square feet of retail next door, wrapped up earlier this year. What's left to fill on Reston Row is storefronts. All the buildings are up.

South of the Trail, a Second Town Center Is Filling In

The Town Center expansion is called RTC Next, and it has been moving faster. It sits south of the W&OD Trail, along Opportunity Way and Inspiration Street. Here's where each of its 2026 arrivals stood as of the end of September:

Business Address Status as of late September 2026
Toastique RTC Next Open; The Burn reported it open by March 13
Paris Baguette 2004 Opportunity Way Soft-opened April 15
Collars & Co. Reston Town Center expansion Opened June 6
Clarity 1996 Opportunity Way Grand opening held Friday, July 24
Dogfish Head Alehouse 11995 Inspiration Street Targeting October; no firm date
Grazie Nonna Reston Town Center expansion Listed as "coming soon"

Two of those addresses share an owner. Viswa Vasireddy owns the award-winning Clarity in Vienna, which now has a Reston location, and he is also the operator behind Dogfish Head Alehouse. He told FFXnow in June, "We are planning for an October opening for now." Dogfish Head had first aimed for summer 2026. The 7,550-square-foot alehouse will be the brand's first restaurant in Virginia since its Seven Corners and Greenbriar Town Center locations closed three years ago. No later update has given a firm opening day. The Reston Town Center directory still lists it as coming soon.

Restaurants aren't the only new tenants here. Molly's Dog Care is already open south of the trail, and Livewell Animal Hospital is slated to join it.

On foot, the pedestrian bridge that opened over the W&OD Trail in November 2024 is the connector. It links Bluemont Way to Progress Street, with signs pointing toward the Reston Town Center Metro station. The county board approved the next phase of RTC Next in November 2025. That plan adds a pedestrian bridge over Sunset Hills Road to reach the Metro, plus a public Central Park running from the W&OD Trail south to Sunset Hills Road. Both are approved plans, so they're still a ways off.

Back in the Original Blocks, Spaces Are Changing Hands

The older parts of Town Center and Reston Station had a different kind of year. Their storefronts changed hands instead of opening for the first time.

  • Spectrum at Reston Town Center: Not Your Average Joe's closed its restaurant at 1845 Fountain Drive on July 15, after about ten years there. Guapo's plans to open a new concept, Guapo's Mar y Tierra, at that address. No timeline has been announced.
  • 1900 Reston Metro Plaza: The former Matchbox space is becoming part of Amentum's office headquarters. That leaves the building with no public retail space.
  • Hyatt Regency Reston, 1800 Presidents Street: Sushi by Bou has applied for permits for a possible 15-seat omakase bar inside the hotel. The company hasn't confirmed the location, and no opening date has been reported.

In the original Town Center, a closed restaurant has generally been followed by another food concept, or at least a plan for one. By the Metro station, the Matchbox space went to offices instead.

The Village Centers Are Turning Over This Week

The same thing is happening at the village centers, and some of it lands today.

At Plaza America, MOD Pizza said September 30 is its final business day at 11642 Plaza America Drive. Andy's Pizza has signed for the space and is expected to open by the end of this year. That's a forecast, not a confirmed date.

At South Lakes Village Center, Lakeside Asia Cafe, at 11130 South Lakes Drive, Suite J, announced September 30 as its last day after 13 years. No replacement has been reported.

Lake Anne is the one village center that added something new this year. Kinship Wine + Wares, a shop selling wine and vintage housewares, soft-opened at 1635B Washington Plaza North over the July 4th weekend. It held a ribbon-cutting on September 17 and a community celebration on September 19. It's much smaller than Ebbitt House, but it's one of the few first-time openings in an older Reston plaza this year.

Where the Fall Calendar Actually Happens

The new restaurants are at the edges, but the fall events are mostly held in the older settings: Reston Town Center's established blocks, Walker Nature Center, and RCC Hunters Woods. Here are the dated events through November, in order:

  1. Oct. 3: Dogfest at the Pavilion, Reston Town Center.
  2. Oct. 4, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.: Mushrooms of Reston, a Reston Association talk on fungi followed by a trail walk, starting at the Nature House, 11450 Glade Drive.
  3. Oct. 10: Rocktoberfest with Vertical Horizon at Reston Town Center.
  4. Oct. 12: The Washington West Film Festival returns to LOOK Cinemas.
  5. Oct. 17: ChalkFest at Reston Town Center. The Town Center calendar and Public Art Reston list different hours, so check before you go. RCC's Halloween Family Fun Day is the same day, noon to 2 p.m., at RCC Hunters Woods, 2310 Colts Neck Road.
  6. Oct. 23 and 24, 5:45 to 8:30 p.m.: Halloween House & Trick-or-Treat Trail at Walker Nature Center, 11450 Glade Drive.
  7. Nov. 21: Thanksgiving Centerpieces at Walker Nature Center, with sessions from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m.
  8. Nov. 27: The Reston Holiday Parade starts at 11 a.m., and the tree lighting follows at 6 p.m.

On a Town Center event day this fall, the new places are a short walk away. RTC Next is across the W&OD bridge, and Reston Row is up by Wiehle-Reston East. If Ebbitt House and Dogfish Head open on schedule, the October events will be the first big weekends with both of them serving.

New openings, closings and turnover all show up in a listing, too. When a seller can say which restaurant just opened down the street or what is going into a vacant space, buyers get a clearer picture of the area. If you're thinking about how your corner of Reston fits into this year's changes, Leslie Hoban and the Hoban Real Estate Group can help you show it in your listing. Book a white-glove consultation.
